JOB SUMMARYThe Supervisor, Tax Strategy & Planning has the primary responsibilityof developing and monitoring tax planning strategies for Oandooperating entities (in all the subsectors of the Oil & Gas industry).The job incumbent has responsibility of ensuring the implementation ofthe strategies across the company. The objective is to ensure that thetax liability of the operating entities across board is at the minimallevel within the confines of the applicable tax legislations in eachjurisdiction where Oando operates. This is achieved by conductingperiodic research on tax planning ideas applicable to Oando businesses(both within and outside Nigeria) and providing strategy documents onimplementation requirements.4. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Participates in the formulation of Oando’s Tax Policy andimplementation strategy. Conduct tax research and develop anunderstanding of international tax laws in relation to the Group’soperations. Identifies tax planning opportunities for Oando operationswithin the applicable legislations and ensures there is a clearunderstanding of the strategies for their implementation. Developsmodels for analyzing the Group’s tax structure and tax risks.Maintains open lines of communication with all relevant decisionmakers and stakeholders on strategic tax planning issues. Develops taxcompliance processes for all taxes related to Oando’s business (bothwithin and outside Nigeria). Monitors compliance of Oando entitiesoutside Nigeria with the legislations in their jurisdictions.Identifies changes in International tax conventions (e.g. OECD) andprovides report on the implication for Oando businesses. OperationalEnsures that within the Oando Group’s Corporate Responsibilities, thecontractual obligations and transactions are strategically planned fortax purposes. Keeps the Operating Companies informed of changes in taxand regulatory legislations and/or enactment of new legislations.Identifies tax risks in contracts to be executed by Operatingcompanies and recommend necessary amendments to mitigate the risks.Participates in project planning for operating entities with a view ofidentifying and advising on the pertinent tax issues. Reviews andensures timely publication of monthly tax bulletin on tax issueswithin Oando and quarterly tax news letters on recent happeningswithin the Nigerian tax environment, prepared by the Tax Analyst.5. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORSRegular reports on tax planning ideas for strategic and operationalactivities. Effective implementation and monitoring of tax complianceprocesses. Quality and timeliness of tax models, risk analysis andreports. Timely notification and provision of appropriate guidance onthe application of new Tax laws, guidelines and rules. Quality andtimeliness of Oando’s tax publications.6. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE1st Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or other related area. 3 - 5years cognate work experience from a reputable organization or TaxConsulting firm with specialist skill in Tax research and advisory asadded advantage. ACCA, ACA, ACTI are added advantage.7.
