Our Client, a national development non-governmental organization duly registered under CAC Company Limited by Guarantee regulations seeks to recruit a Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer to lead its work in Nigeria.
Its mission is to add value to the micro enterprise industry by providing technical assistance in areas where international best practice and local innovations come together to strengthen of this important industry in Nigeria. With a corporate head office in Lagos and regional offices in Abuja, Owerri and Gombe it has 33 professional and support staff.
Revenues are generated through fundraising and fee-based services. Its programming is overseen by a 7-person board of directors which meets three times a year.

SUMMARY Provide leadership to position the institution at the forefront of the industry. Develop a strategic plan to advance the institution's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability and growth as an organization. Oversee institutional operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Develop a strategic plan to advance the institution's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization. Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the institution. Build a fundraising network using personal contacts, direct mail, special events, and foundation support. Direct institutional planning and policy-making committees.
2.Develop and review institutional operational procedures, policies, and standards for board review and approval. Oversee institutional operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. Oversee branch operations to include evaluating operating and financial performance. Identify partnership and collaboration opportunities and direct implementation activities.
3.Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions. Evaluate performance of executives for compliance with established policies and objectives of the institution and contributions in attaining objectives. Present institutional report at Annual Subscriber and Board of Director meetings.
4.Promote the institution through written articles and personal appearances at conferences and on radio and TV. Represent the institution at legislative sessions, committee meetings, and at formal functions. Promote the institution to local, regional, national, and international constituencies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1.Demonstrated leadership, administrative and management experience, including the ability to think boldly and generate new ideas to development practice and discourse and support creative solutions to persistent development problems.
2.Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
3.Demonstrated ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data. Knowledge of public relations principles and practices. Knowledge of communication and public relation techniques. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to identify and secure funding/revenue sources.
4.Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
QUALIFICATION
* A post graduate degree in economics, banking, sociology, a or other relate disciplines;
* Substantial professional experience in microfinance and the micro enterprise sector;
* An understanding of program development, monitoring and evaluation, and the ability to conceptualize programmatic ideas and strategies;
* Strong managerial, organizational and interpersonal skills;
* Excellent analytical and writing skills in English;
* Strong facilitating skills.
* Experience in Nigeria is highly desirable.WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
Work may require frequent weekend and evening work. Work requires frequent overnight travel.
