Director: OPERATIONS: SUB-SAHARAN OF AFRICAN
M-net seeks to appoint a seasoned professional with extensive media experience and proven leadership skills at executive level to be the Director: OPERATIONS: SUB-SAHARAN OF AFRICAN to take full responsibility in terms of operations in thos areas. This is a senior position reporting directly to the CEO of M-Net and will also have a number of direct reports from both inside and outside South Africa.
OUTPUTS • Assume full responsibility for strategic positioning and development of M-net channels in the region.• Maintain a high profile visibility amongst viewing audiences and steer the channels content accordingly.• Advice on marketing and public relations functions relevant to the M-net business and that of its channels.• Liaise and develop relationship with regulators in various countries and to advise accordingly.• Conceptualise and implement the introduction of new shows annually.
COMPETENCIES
• Proven leadership skills at executive level, strategic insight on issues affecting the Broadcasting and telecommunication industry.• Insight into issues affecting the programming and viewing patterns and production processes.• Insight and understanding of regulatory processes impacting on the business.• Excellent business acumen• An understanding of Market Research• Marketing and PR Skills• Interpersonal skills• General management and leadership skills• Results orientation• Entrepreneurial spirit • Negotiation skills• Innovativeness• A thorough understanding of the region’s cultures and TV viewing patterns would be an advantage but it not a pre-requisite.
KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Extensive experience in media and entertainment industry would be an advantage (Television, Cinemas, Etc)• A relevant commercial degree• Superior computer skills
