Job at Save the Children Nigeria for a Senior Advisor
Save the Children UK is an international NGO working for the rights of poor and marginalized people, especially children.
We now seek to recruit a Senior Programme Advisor: Governance and Advocacy to work in Abuja, Nigeria.
We are looking for a highly experienced Nigerian professional who will enhance SC’s policy analysis capabilities and support the development of an expanded pro poor governance agenda in the delivery of basic social services, with a focus on improving quality and access to health and education services.
The Senior Advisor reports to the Country Director
Key Functions & Responsibilities:
* Provide advice and support across the country portfolio in pro-poor governance frameworks and rights based programming;* Support new programme development and Save the Children’s health advocacy work* Build the capacity of civil society and state actors in policy analysis, budget processes, and advocacy for high quality, equitable delivery of essential social services – particularly at State and local levels;* Promotion of children’s and women’s rights and inclusive community participation* Representation of Save the Children UK
Qualifications: Post-graduate qualification in public health, and/or any other social science; at least 10 years professional working experience in health/social services delivery with a focus on governance and enhanced voice and accountability; an understanding of the role of NGOs and current development debates; demonstrated competence in gender analysis and a strong commitment to equity; proven ability to communicate quickly, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, including preparation of technical reports and presentations.
